Feds, right-wing media paint Portland as ‘city under siege.’ A tour of town shows otherwise |
2020-07-20 |
Hattip Glenmore. Like in Seattle, only a smallish part of Portland is the focus of the Antifa/BLM insurrection. Oregon Live would very much like it’s readers to believe this means it is not meaningful. A taste: [OregonLive] As Cory Alexander and her daughter Nevaeh Belka stroll through downtown Portland, a mural catches the 9-year-old’s eye.The wall of black plywood surrounding the Pioneer Place Apple Store is a memorial to Black Americans killed by police. Nevaeh trots up the steps, faces her mother and raises a fist. Alexander, 46 and white, taps on her phone and takes a photo of her Black daughter. |

#10 I wouldn't be caught dead in Portland. This lame CoC puff piece will not fool any of the normals. |

#9 That's what black people see themselves as ? Black plywood ? I think it must be a white slave's idea. |

#6 The wall of black plywood surrounding the Pioneer Place Apple Store is a memorial to Black Americans killed by police. No, it's a memorial to lawlessness, to barbarism disguised as protest. The obsession over a miniscule number of bad events is just another avenue to push tribalism. |

#5 Mostly. Upon analysis, the patients body was found to be entirely lead free, except for a small 10 gram fragment in the left ventricle. I do love the sloppy weaselous logic of this: The agency has not been able to corroborate its claim that the union building was at serious risk Translation: Since the mostly protesters were not allowed to destroy the building and therefore, we do not have the insurance adjusters report, we cannot prove there was any risk. We could have asked the mostly peaceful protestors about their intent, but that's like actual reporting and I have a story to get out. |

#1 Most of the south was peaceful as well 1861-65. Incidents of conflict were kept to a very small swath of its total area. Augusta boasts of many fine antebellum homes untouched by the hands of northern arsonists. |
