Orange Man skips John Lewis farewell at Capitol Rotunda, sends VP |
2020-07-29 |
It was a solemn display of unity as congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle offered praise for longtime Georgia Rep. John Lewis. There was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called Lewis the "conscience of the Congress"; and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who praised him as a model of courage. Vice President Mike Pence and former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, came as well. But missing was a man whose absence spoke volumes: President Donald Trump. |

#13 He knew it'd be the McCain Funeral 2: Electric Boogaloo. At least he had the sense not to subject himself to that. But missing was a man whose absence spoke volumes: President Donald Trump. "Waah! Only we are allowed to piss all over the norms!" |

#12 I thought funerals are incredibly dangerous and even against the law. Conscience of the Congress - that supposed to be a compliment? |

#11 Well, if the reason for going to a funeral is to show respect... |

#10 John Lewis is being apotheosized to almost, but not quite to the level of George Floyd. |

#4 You mean to give credence to the party of slavery, segregation and the Klan. I thought all the 'cool' kids want to do away with anything associated with that. |

#2 Why should an "illegitimate" president appear, after all? Good riddance, Lewis. |

#1 spoke volumes 'Speaks volumes?' It does indeed. They obviously never cared for one another. The President refused to be a hypocrite by paying "respects" to the SOB, where there were none. "Let the dead bury the dead." |
