The Democrats Ignored the Riots, but Republicans Won't |
2020-08-24 |
[COMMENTARYMAGAZINE] The Democratic National Convention is over, and Democrats did not leave much to voters’ imaginations. The party faithful were likely enlivened by the speakers who sketched out a transformative vision for the future of the country. Less ideological voters will probably appreciate the not-exactly-subtle efforts to contrast Joe Foreign Policy Whiz KidBiden ![]() ’s character and comportment with Donald Trump |

#7 The 2016 eGOP class was the worst of establishment cronyism and they did everything they could to jam Trump up. They got plastered in 2018 because of it. This time around we have many pro-Trump new Republicans that hate the establishment as much as Trump. If they get in, then I expect to see some change. Also anything but a huge Trump landslide will be war as no one will believe the results on either side and the cultural divide will become a physical one. A huge Trump landslide will shatter the demoncrats and hopefully they can purge the cultist ideology that infects them and the far left. |

#6 #2 I'm convinced the GOPe did their damnedest to throw 2018 to clog up Trump's agenda. The question is whether that GOP is still the one we have now. I think we're about to find out. |

#5 Assume Trump in anything but a squeaker and the MSM will be running "country is ungovernable x election was stolen x COVID distracted people from our message x no mandate x add your own broken record excuse (the got a lot of em...)" |

#4 If Trump doesn't garner 55-60% of the popular vote, then you know either the fix was in or voters are mindless dolts (GOP has a few, too). I just can't see many issues the Dems could defend (hence no debate, Joey's state of mind notwithstanding). |

#3 Plus when the average person realises what a dramatically harmful over-reaction the lockdown was they'll tend away from the lockdown fanatic party. |

#2 If the 'Pubs do not use the first night of this convention as a two hour indictment of the Democrat party I'm gonna be pissed off and I doubt I'm alone with that sentiment. |

#1 The 'virtual' convention avoided a single location for protesters. Perhaps they learned the lesson of the 1968 Dem convention. |
