![]() On Tuesday he was charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and a felony count of carrying a dirk or dagger. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of nine years and eight months in state prison. Prosecutors say Abdul-Jabbar argued with his 60-year-old neighbor, with whom he shares a driveway, on June 9. The neighbor had confronted Abdul-Jabbar about not taking in the trash cans for his elderly roommate, and Abdul-Jabbar allegedly stabbed the neighbor several times with a large hunting knife. 'I sort of got on him because the lady who takes care of him is 83-year-old, he doesn't do anything for her and it just bums me out, she's in a walker taking her trash cans down,' said to Eyewitness News in June. |

#5 Germ line epigenetics is what you should search for. Although black tolerance of criminality and diverse approach to obeying the law seems to me to be more culturally taught behaviour. |

#4 /\ Interesting comment Richard. I've had similar thoughts about the offspring of multi-generational drug users. "Sins of the father" and so forth. |

#3 Years ago, lefty journalist Kevin Drum wrote a piece about how ingestion of lead--context of lead paint in old buildings--before age five results in deficient impulse control. Irreversible. Nobody wants to take on the question of various populations with a disproportionate number of people who might just "go off". So if you're wondering "what was he thinking?", maybe he wasn't thinking. |

#2 Evil aside, why is it this fellow could not calculate the obvious consequences of such an act and reject it out of hand? What power is it that overrides common sense and good judgement? What is the missing element of the thought process? Acts like this appear to be all too common. Someone trained in these matters must have the answers. |
