[Daily Mail] - Omer Kuzu, 23, pleaded guilty to terrorism charges on Wednesday, the DOJ said
- The Texas native spent five years with ISIS fighters before his capture last year by the Syrian Democratic Forces
- He and his brother Yusuf Kuzu were radicalized in the U.S. before traveling to Turkey in 2014, where an 'ISIS taxi' picked them up and smuggled them into Syria
- Kuzu was trained as fighter before being sent to Raqqah to provide communications support for the jihadist group
- He admitted to pledging allegiance, or 'Bay'ah,' to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the Islamic Caliphate
- After pleading guilty to one count of conspiring to provide material support to a terror group, Kuzu faces up to 20 years in prison.
- His sentencing is set for January 22, 2021.
