Pres. Trump spars with Chris Wallace in presidential debate: 'I guess I'm debating you, not him'
2020-09-30
[Washington Examiner] President Trump sparred with debate moderator Chris Wallace early in Tuesday’s presidential debate on the topic of healthcare.

"First of all, I guess I’m debating you, not him," Trump told Wallace in response to a question about healthcare in which the Fox News anchor referred to Trump’s recent executive order on healthcare as "largely symbolic." "That’s OK. I’m not surprised."

#7  *contacts in my book who normally dog pile on Trump are taking a much more neutral, "Well that was an embarrassing muddle." when normally it would be more like, "That Drumph just can't keep shut for even a minute!"

#6  Oh, Biden was solid third place, no doubt about that.

Whatever he was, he wasn't a fighter last night, and Wallace's performance only amplified that.

He looked hesitant, he squished on the GND, he squished on Antifa, and his monologues came off as recited and void of idea or passion - again Wallace's performance amplifying that.

Prepared zingers were fumbled and/or ill timed. Prepared monologues came out jumbled and confusing.

And the pasty look didn't help at all.

#5  #3 Actually Trump still has a strong base. This was a surgical strike upon Biden's left supporters. Most people have made their minds up. This dampens enthusiasm for the Biden base. Trump supporters are going to vote in a massive red wave. Biden lost his temper("shut up"). Trump rolled on.

#3  Best I've heard it put,

"All three participants played to their base."

#2  Wallichinski's stock is way down today. Look for him to be increasingly strident and bitter going forward.

#1  Wallace was very partisan and slanted against Trump. Why did Fox use a rabid NeverTrumper for the "moderator"?
