| #11 Yes; I believe the Germans were playing around with the technology as well. IIUC, the limited technology of the time didn't allow for 'wild weasel' type missions. I'd look at late 40's to 50's for a conventional aircraft turned drone cold war tactic. I also looked at other theaters such as Israel/Middle East, Iran/Iraq, India/Pakistan and didn't immediately come across a wild weasel conventional aircraft turned drone. In the 60s, it seems the technology was there for purpose built drones for wild weasel missions; why I looked at not-cold-war locations. Its clever, really, and would be no surprise if North Korea would have drone planes to cover an airborne operation. |

| #8 There was earnest work to turn conventional aircraft into radio controlled, but I think they were used mostly as ground attack 'guided missile' operations. Conventional aircraft have been converted to radio control as target drones to test out anti-air systems. If someone has done this before in an actual war situation, I can't think of it and they haven't bragged about it. |
