| #5 These are not victimless crimes. There’s a reason why centuries of western civilization resulted in the adoption of an age of majority. Minors lack the cognitive development to make good judgments and appropriately process certain events. The kinds of events described that included this minor will invariably lead to years of trauma, if not a lifetime of trauma and psychological issues. Research indicates that the trauma will be greatly exacerbated by the fact the child is related to the perpetrator. A child suffers less harm, although still profound harm, when the perpetrator is from outside the family system. This is reprehensible. |
