Top Biden team members with Wall Street backgrounds
2020-12-08
[Washington Examiner] The left wing of the Democratic Party, along with liberal activist groups, is fighting to prevent President-elect Joe Biden from appointing senior administration officials who they perceive as beholden to corporate interests. This primarily includes blocking those with ties to Wall Street and the fossil fuel industry.

Nevertheless, a few high-level appointees with strong corporate ties have made it into the future Biden administration.

Two of Biden’s top economic officials, Brian Deese and Wally Adeyemo, used to work for Blackrock, an investment management corporation.

Biden’s pick for secretary of state, Antony Blinken, started a political strategy firm that worked with multiple Fortune 100 companies.

The former vice president’s new coronavirus coordinator, Jeffrey Zients, was the CEO of a large investment firm for years and was on the board of Facebook until earlier this year.

Additionally, Gary Gensler, the head of Biden's financial policy transition team, worked for the Wall Street investment bank Goldman Sachs for almost two decades.
