prisoners, adding that the previous release process for the continuation of the grinding of the peace processor resulted in the escalation of violence.

The release of Taliban prisoners in the past has been a ’bitter experience’ for the Afghan government, which says it is not ready to release any more prisoners.

He added, the people of Afghanistan decided that 400 high-value and most dangerous Taliban prisoners should also be released for peace and the people demanded upon the release of these dangerous detainees both sides must call for a prolonged ceasefire and put an end to war, "Unfortunately, the Taliban have not only stopped the fighting and were not committed to the ceasefire, but they have raged their violence and are taking the lives of innocent Afghans every single day".

"We are not in favor of releasing more Taliban prisoners," Omar said.

This comes as the Taliban demanded the release of more than 7,000 prisoners, the group’s removal from the UN blacklist.

It was intended that the release of 5,000 Taliban will bring a reduction in violence, but according to Omar "violence has increased" because of the group’s members released as part of the grinding of the peace processor.

"we hope that the new US administration will work in coordination with the Afghan government on peace," Omar concluded his speech.
