Shaboobs kill Djibouti soldier a day after raid on Æthiop camp
2021-01-25
[Garowe] MOGADISHU, Somalia - Al-Shabaab militants have yet again claimed to have raided Djiboutian army bases in Somalia, killing a peacekeeping mission soldier, in yet another attack targeting security forces in the Horn of Africa nation, which has struggled with instability for a couple of years.
American forces have strict ROE. I'm not sure about the Djiboutians, and the Shaboobs might want to be careful here...
Reports indicate that the militants raided the troops serving under AMISOM serving in Bula-Burde and Jalalaqsi in the Hiran region, which falls under the command of the Djiboutian troops, who have been part of the mission for a couple of years, and who are stationed in Central Somalia.

The overnight attack, Al-Shabaab claimed, also left one soldier seriously wounded besides destroying several artillery equipment used by the defense forces. The reports are yet to be confirmed by the AMISOM team which is under the command of Lt. General Diomede from Burundi.

Djiboutian troops serving in Somalia just like their colleagues in AMISOM have often come under attack from the Al-Shabaab which has been fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed Somalia administration. Djibouti has close to 3,000 soldiers serving in the country.
