Manchin To Harris - Piss Off
2021-02-01
Unlike Republicans, Democrats aren't easily rolled.
Some Democrats...and some Republicans. This new crop of Republican military vets is looking good thus far.
[NY Post] - Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin slammed Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of her meeting with a group of Senate Republicans Monday on passing bipartisan COVID-19 relief.

Manchin (D-WV) denounced Harris for appearing on local TV stations in West Virginia and Arizona last week in what was effectively a targeted pressure campaign on senators from those states to support the Biden administration’s $1.9 trillion relief package.

Speaking to local station WSAZ on Friday, the same outlet where Harris urged West Virginia’s lawmakers to back their coronavirus legislation, Manchin argued that the vice president’s interview went against Biden’s message of unity.

"I saw [the interview], I couldn’t believe it. No one called me. We’re going to try to find a bipartisan pathway forward, I think we need to," the self-proclaimed conservative Democrat said.

"We need to work together. That’s not a way of working together," he continued.
I'm pretty sure she's made her mind up already, Joe.

#11  50-50 in the Senate...are people delusional? Well, let's see, we have this dame in Alaska, another dame in Maine, then there's Mittens...whom am I forgetting?

#10  /\ Answer to 7 +8. I recall it distinctly from one MSM news cycle where they piously intoned that "The measure had TRI-lateral support in Congress."

#9  Jim Jeffords (RINO-Vt);
(Wiki): "Jeffords was one of the founders of the Congressional Solar Coalition and the Congressional Arts Caucus. Jeffords was frequently recognized for his performance as a legislator, receiving Parenting magazine's Legislator of the Year" award in 1999, and the Sierra Club's highest commendation in 2002.""

#7  If I recall when GW Bush won he had a similar 50-50 split and Cheney as tie breaker. But a squishy Republican flipped to independent and gave the Dems the majority. Maybe Manchin could declare his ‘independence’ but I suspect a squishy Republican would flip just a quick.

#6  Don't hold your breath, Darth. Manchin is a consummate Swamp Critter.

Oh yes he is. And if the insane left pushes him hard, they'll push him into the arms of the Swamp eGOP. Not enough to save the republic, but enough to throw a monkey wrench into the left's ideas.

#4  "Do you want to work again in this town?"
The Democratic Machine is also far more draconian in policing the staffers this influences the politicos through their aides.

#2  Don't hold your breath, Darth. Manchin is a consummate Swamp Critter. He's only playing to his constituents until the Dems agree to his price; then he can count on the Democrat Election Manufactory (TM) to keep him in office regardless of what WVA may want. As for the (unspellable) AZ senator, she's a true flake - you wouldn't want to trust her driving your car much less saving the country. Probably trying to play the same game as Manchin but just not as experienced.

#1  Manchin actual holds the Ace card here. If he flips parties, so much for demoncrat control in the Senate.

He and the other senator that are pushing back can call the shots.
