People Moving to Texas Are Not Going to Turn the State Blue
2021-03-03
I saw the news clip last night on the local CBS channel. This is the bestest part of the story about Texas real estate sales.
[Yahoo News] BROOKE KATZ [CBS]: She recently attracted the attention of actor Kirk Cameron who, in a Facebook post, said he too is considering moving to Texas, where taxes are lower, patriotism is higher, and biblical values are celebrated.

MARIE BAILEY [RE agent]: There is a huge misconception that Californians are here to turn Texas blue.

BROOKE KATZ: Bailey says the buyers she works with are overwhelmingly conservative.

LUIS TORRES [expert]: Don't forget, people will vote with their feet, and they're voting for taxes.

BROOKE KATZ: Research economist Dr. Luis Torres says our state's business-friendly reputation draws tens of thousands of people every year. But many agents say 2020 brought even more buyers hoping to escape their state's COVID restrictions.
Tuesday, the Gov announced lifting all restrictions as of March 10.
KATHERINE MEYERS [agent]: I have people that have contacted me from California, Illinois, New York to help them find homes here.

MARIE BAILEY [agent]: They know what they are coming from and they are thrilled.
I am too, as long as they are "overwhelmingly conservative".

#11  Then one day, you wake up and all of your local positions are filled with lunatics, they run off what will be known as the good employees, and fill those positions with bigger lunatics.

Watched it happen to Colorado.

Doesn't mean they know how to drive 70-85 on a 1.5 lane road.

#9  ^Metastasis is the spread of cancer cells to new areas of the body, often by way of the lymph system or bloodstream. A metastatic cancer, or metastatic tumor, is one that has spread from the primary site of origin, or where it started, into different areas of the body.

#6  Friends of ours moved here from WA & CA for the right reasons, but a lot don't - see Austin, aka East Berkeley. And there is the biggest group moving in - from Latin America...
