It’s not connected in any way to Somalia’s Al Shabaab, which looks to Al Qaeda, or Nigeria’s Boko Haram, also known as Islamic State West Africa Province, and may or may not be retreating in disarray...

#2  According to what I’ve been able to discover between Rantburg’s archives and the internet, Voldemort Omeater6755, Al Shabaab (Mozambique) funds itself through heroin, contraband and the ivory trade — and of course raiding. They’re pledged to ISIS and had some initial training in terroristing from Al Shabaab in Somalia, while their leadership appears to come from Tanzania, but I haven’t noticed anything specific about large investors. Who donates to Boko Haram (ISWAP) or the jihadis in Mali?
