[KhaamaPress] Talibs have killed two guards of the Dahandara Dam in the Pashtun Kot district of northwestern Faryab province, the National Water Affairs Regulation Authority said.

had killed two guards and maimed another during the attack on the water dam.

He added that the Taliban had attacked the dam two months ago in which seven security force members appointed to protect Dahandara were killed.

According to reports one Taliban affiliate member was also killed during the skirmish.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

Estimated to cost $37 million from the government budget, the dam is designed to irrigate about 4,000 hectares of farmland and generate one and half-megawatt of electricity.

The reservoir is the country’s fifth-biggest with 67 meters in height and could store more than 25 million square meters of water.
