#4 Normally only a foolish lawyer would put their defendant on the stand but in this case I think the verdict was pre-determined so they have nothing to lose. It'll probably play out like the end of To Kill a Mockingbird in which the lawyer proves his clients innocence and he gets a guilty verdict anyway. Then in a few decades he might have a chance at a fair trial but probably not. Then the blue flu and early retirement will really hit the city. |

#2 What I expect to see: Every time the defense gets close to landing a good blow, the prosecution will object and the judge will sustain. This will happen a record number of times for a criminal trial. |

#1 He should take the stand and testify about what was in his mind as he subdued that flaming asshole who 1. ...was actively resisting arrest 2. ...was 90 lbs bigger and almost a foot taller than he 3. ...was delirious and foaming at the mouth 4. ...had just stuffed still more pills in his mouth while inside the police car 5. ...had attracted an angry, screaming, threatening mob that surrounded and was beginning to approach the police 6. ...was exhibiting the routine Assholery of the sort that American police encounter when dealing with lowlifes -- lying and absurd histrionics alternating with violent resistance, generally deluded and depraved behavior |
