NYPD Detective attacked with stick in broad daylight, suspect chased and arrested |
2021-04-28 |
[TRENDINGVIEWS.CO] A NYPD detective was attacked while he was just standing there doing his job, minding his own business, when out of nowhere a man came over and hit him on the head with a stick. The person stood there looking confused for a second, the detective fell over, and then cops pursued the suspect on foot. It's unclear what happened after the video stopped recording, but a later news report said the suspect was arrested. CBS Local reported, "It happened just before noon while the detective was investigating a burglary on Prince Street in Flushing, Queens. Police arrested 25-year-old Akeele Morgan. He faces multiple charges, including assault on a police officer." |

#8 The judge cannot slap his wrist. Before that is even possible, a judge would have to GET the case presented in court. Whether of not that might happen is NOT up to the judge, as we are seeing nightly in Portland, OR. |

#5 Well the perp has to be out in order to attend the parade the Mayor is holding. Can't have the guest of honor missing out - that's racist. |

#4 NN2N1,that's obviously a racist law. With the right judge, the perp should be out in a day or two. /sarcasm |

#3 The laws is clear... according to NY Penal Code. The judge cannot slap his wrist. NY Penal Law Section 120.11 - Aggravated assault upon a police officer or a peace officer A person is guilty of aggravated assault upon a police officer or a peace officer when, with intent to cause serious physical injury to a person whom he knows or reasonably should know to be a police officer or a peace officer engaged in the course of performing his official duties, he causes such injury by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument. Aggravated assault upon a police officer or a peace officer is a Class B or a Class C felony for just assault. The idiot is looking at a possible sentence of 20 years in prison and a big file. Because assault on a peace officer is also classified as a violent felony, the judge is required to impose at least a minimum sentence of 3+ years in prison. Even if the idiot has no prior convictions. |
