#18  Winnebago and Town of Castle Rock vs. Gonzales, the supreme court has ruled that police agencies are not obligated to provide protection of citizens. In other words, police are well within their rights to pick and choose when to intervene to protect the lives and property of others — even when a threat is apparent.

#17  Protection racket operators extort money to protect the extortion target from the racket operators. They won't be any use if someone else busts your business up.

#14  no one can really make him, or blame him for 'acting enough'.
Dron, they can and they will. The cops have to plan ahead, and slow-walk their arrival at such scenes ('traffic...')

#13  Chocolate Cafe? Is that some kind of --er-- 'preference' reference?

#12  ..at least the protection racketeers had to demonstrate they have a service to offer. I see a lot of new faces on milk cartons coming.

#11  I'm not sure that day isn't coming. We are devolving into balkanization or worse, tribalism. Won't be long I think before police in cities will essentially be a protection racket.

#10  * not 'acting enough'

#9  What Rambler said is of course correct, but if a guy doesn't want to help, no one can really make him, or blame him for 'acting enough'.

#8  Crime wave fears in Seattle as it's revealed 200 cops - 20% of it's force - quit in last 16 months because of 'anti-cop climate' in the Democrat city

#7  I think some folks don't understand the cops don't *HAVE* to get involved. I think they'll start to learn that fact the hard way.

#6  Silentbrick, that would be a perfectly appropriate response. Unfortunately, 911 and the police won't work that way (yet). And if a police officer were to get killed or injured responding to the call, the Chocolate Cafe people would probably celebrate.

#5  911: "What's your emergency?"
Store: "Help, we're being robbed."
911: "Where are you at?"
Store: *gives name and address*
911: "Oh yes, we heard of you. Right. Well, we won't serve you. Oh and I quote, "Go F*** yourself" *click*
