Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid on Nurmsi airfield Drop Zone when US troops jumped in |
2021-05-09 |
[Delfi] On the night of Saturday, May 8, as part of the Swift Response exercise, about 600 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army were dropped at Nurmsi airfield. In addition to the infantry, three vehicles and two howitzers landed on the field. Most of the paratroopers were transferred to Estonia directly from the Fort Bragg division base in North Carolina, USA - the flight took about ten hours. The landing over the Nurmsi airfield was carried out from a height of 300 meters using military transport aircraft C-17, as well as C-130, which delivered paratroopers from Lithuania. |

#4 ^^^! Right there w/you. I only had a couple dozen jumps and most were water/nigh jumps (pissed my pants and closed my eyes..). I'd strap on a MC-1C and go out the door today if I could though. |

#3 Even at my age, if I were offered a chance to jump one more time (Hollywood or Combat Equipment), I'd get vaccinated immediately. |

#1 Looked to be a full mission profile with the heavy drop (jeeps/arty) then the mass tactical jump w/combat equipment. Great job 82nd. |
