#5 The Swearingen Metroliner is an awesome turboprop plane. Several years ago I would see Grand Canyon tour airline regularly fly out of LGB. The turboprop would take off from runway 30 and then bank and turn over my house so I could hear the two powerful turboprops buzz by with a nice sounding whine. The plane seemed to just glide/slice through the air with no strain from gravity or wind resistance. The plane would fly to the Grand Canyon for an aerial tour and be back before dark. |
