In the "What Have You Done For Us Lately" Department, Israel has just completed tests of its new high-power laser system that, installed on a civilian aircraft, can shoot down drones. It promises to be what is called a game-changer. |

| #1 US has a similar system. The US system reportedly uses radio wave frequencies to disable the drones. I'm sure both the US and Israel are working toward being able to knock out missiles in the boost phase as a next step (or next then next step). I've always thought that, at least the targeting part of this would be facilitated by the hot signature of the missile but of course the missile is moving faster than a drone and is more heavily armored so this might be much more difficult than the drone killer. |
