US State Department shuts down its passport applicant online appointment system after scammers used bots to obtain bookings and sold them on online forums
2021-07-24
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Scammers used bots to schedule appointments which where were then sold online, including Facebook groups like one called 'US Passports and Visas'

  • The State Department first learned of the scams in June

  • The online tool had offered the ability to schedule last-minute appointments for travelers, which were often reserved for travelers in life-or-death emergencies

  • The State Department noted that the only way to book an appointment currently is to call the National Passport Information Center on a weekday

#3  Yeah, and they're open from 9am-11:30am every day. State could do more...but why? They hold Americans in contempt.

#1  Again, odd how this never happened when Trump was President.

The scammers know that the incompetents are in charge.
