War of words between Texas Gov. Abbott, AG Garland over migrant order
2021-07-31
[NYPOST] Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott
... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too...
accused the Biden administration (aka the Wilmington comorra)
...knaves, footpads, and adjusters employed by the Biden Crime Family. They leave a trail of havoc everywhere they turn their attention, be it the nation's borders, the Keystone XL Pipeline, or epidemics, sometimes on purpose, most times through sheer arrogant ineptitude. They learnt this stuff in college, you know...
Thursday of "jeopardizing the health and safety of Texans on a daily basis" after Attorney General Merrick Garland threatened a lawsuit over a new order allowing state troopers to stop and turn around vehicles suspected of carrying illegal immigrants colonists.

In a letter to Abbott, Garland claimed the governor’s order was "dangerous" as well as "contrary to federal law and cannot be enforced." The attorney general also claimed the order was unconstitutional, as it "interferes with [federal] immigration enforcement" and obstructs the "release of individuals and the ability of those individuals to comply with federal immigration law."

Garland concluded the letter by declaring that if Abbott did not rescind his order, the attorney general would "pursue all appropriate legal remedies to ensure that Texas does not interfere with the functions of the federal government."
That would certainly be interesting.
"It is clear that the Biden Administration fundamentally misunderstands what is truly happening at the Texas-Mexico border," Abbott shot back in a statement of his own Thursday. "The current crisis at our southern border, including the overcrowding of immigration facilities and the devastating spread of COVID-19 that the influx of non-citizens is causing, is entirely the creation of the Biden Administration and its failed immigration policies."

The order, enacted Wednesday, prohibits anyone except federal, state and local law enforcement officials from transporting illegal immigrants colonists detained attempting to cross the US-Mexico border. It also authorizes the stoppage of any vehicle "on reasonable suspicion" that it is violating the order. If a violation is confirmed, troopers are ordered to reroute the vehicle to its point of origin or a border crossing checkpoint or impound the vehicle if the driver refuses to be rerouted.

#13  Several other state Governors have people on the Texas border to assist Abbott. He has already has the beginnings of a Confederacy.

#11  The key here is NOT permitting Federalization.

#10  On a side note - Texas has a separate militia structure from the NG. Several other states have them as backup when the NG is federalized and deployed out of state.

#8  /\ I doubt anyone will be marching 6 million Texans off to detention and extermination camps. I just don't think that sort of thing will fly.

#7  ^Wasn't it tried already?

#6  If I were Gov. Abbott, I'd be framing up a 'Republic of Texas' draft declaration and making sure his National Guard leadership as well as all branches of Texas Law Enforcement are fully aware of the implications.

Properly notifying his intent along with the federal tax and defense impacts, to the perfidious traitors of the beltway (White House and the Congress) might be instructive as well. No guarantees, but they just MIGHT be reluctant to take on a Texas shi* storm.

I have little doubt the Governor could quietly mobilize a division or two of mounted (F-150) mobile civilian defense force volunteers if it became necessary.

#5  Texas is being invaded by a foreign nationals. Abbott should declare it as an act of war and use the TNG defend the borders. Then if Garland tries anything, charge him with treason against the state of Texas for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

#4  Abbott should start treating the feds like Capital protesters. Lock them up with no bail. Put out a warrant for Garland (A&A).

#3  The governor needs to remind Mr. Garland of what the law is about aiding and abetting.
Posted by: Procopius2k   2021-07-31 08:38

#2  Let Garland try and enforce it.
