| WSJ: Men appear to be giving up on college |

| h/t HotAir There’s an interesting story in the Wall Street Journal today about the declining enrollment of men in 2 and 4-year colleges. This gender enrollment disparity is a trend that has been happening for a while now, but at this point the divergence between men and women is becoming pretty dramatic. ...The situation has become bad enough that some colleges are already offering more slots for boys in an attempt to bring the enrollment back into parity. The WSJ says this is "higher education’s dirty little secret," i.e. schools are now practicing a kind of affirmative action for men. You want more men? You want to save your economy? Stop "believing all women". |

| #12 I guess those "MRS" degrees are going to be different. With the declining male enrollment maybe there will be an increase in "MRS/MRS" degrees. |

| #11 I thought gender did not matter? In the end the only thing that matters is gainful employment and a career after graduating. Looks like folks are figuring out the business case and the risk of college is not worth the cost and abuse. |

| #5 The story mentions the high cost of college and crushing student debt. Not mentioned is the fact that a lot of the degrees being offered are worthless. Let the girls have them, skip all that bullcrap and learn to be an auto mechanic. Let's face it college is not for everybody. |

| #3 #1 don't forget they have to turn in their status car for $$$ service to a mechanic who's not paying off an outrageous student loan for a piece of credentialing paper in a dealership with 'overhead' that was acquired from dad and needed no piece of paper to own and operate. Just an Adam Smith form of from each according to his/her ability to each according to his/her need. |

Business and industry (what remains of it) appear to be following the model. Have been for many years. Tired of the old government hiring and recruitment model, check out the new Amazon driver and warehouse team model. You're a non-US CIT who graduated from the University of Mumbai (MU), don't want to leave the family, and wish to 'work from home'? No problem. Our positions provide free phones and laptops. Ability to speak English is a plus. WSJ exposé not really necessary. Yes, it gets worse. H1B's are an entirely separate but related story. |

| #1 LOL. The real losers will be women. Women marry up: they want a man who's better than them. Now, with the systematic denigration and degradation of men, it's going to be even tougher for a woman with a Master's or Ph.D to find a husband. Much less a Bachelor's. They're going to cry into their cat litter and box wines and oh! it will be glorious. Because they did this to themselves. |
