BLUF: America was stupid and arrogant to invade Afghanistan and Iraq in response to 9/11, and is even more stupid and arrogant to withdraw now, especially as they did it. In both cases it was the innocent Arab Muslims who suffered. The lesson that it’s a bad idea to trigger American intervention seems entirely to have been missed by the editorialist.

Two decades ago at the beginning of the 21st century, the Arab world looked to be at a crossroads and facing huge challenges and perspectives.

The region was moving forward cautiously a decade after the Gulf War to remove Saddam Hussein’s forces from Kuwait and the signing of the historic Paleostinian-Israeli peace agreement.
