  • Colorado Governor Jared Polis married his longtime partner Marlon Reis on Wednesday; the ceremony was the first same-sex marriage of a sitting governor

  • Gov. Polis became the first openly gay man elected governor and the state's first Jewish governor when he was sworn into office in January 2019

  • The couple were married in a small traditional Jewish ceremony at the University of Colorado- Boulder in an event honoring their home state

  • Polis and Reis were married on the 18th anniversary of their first date

  • All guests were required to test negative before attending the outdoor event

  • Polis proposed to Reis in December wanting to give his children a happy memory before they drove Reis to the hospital due to his worsening COVID symptoms
