Jimmy Carter Turns 97
2021-10-03
[PEOPLE] Jimmy has ceased buying green bananas or starting any long books. At least he can die secure in the knowledge that, not only was he a better president than James Buchanan and almost as good as Millard Fillmore, but that two out of three Dem presidents since him have been worse and that one out of three has played the saxophone on national teevee and gotten a BJ whilst discussing national policy on the Hot Line™.

#21  Basically a weakling who was out of his depth on the world stage.

His cabinet was schizo: he had a cookie-pushers like Cy Vance and Andrew Young alongside the most hawkish Cold Warrior of the era, Zbig Brzezinski, as NSC Adviser.

Despite his obvious high intelligence - 'nukeyer' er nuclear engineering degree from USNA - when it came to practical policy and strategy, the guy had no coherent, intelligent understanding of the world

#20  Mike:

Some of us knew what was gonna happen when we counted the number of McGovern staffers in his train.

#16  Jimmy also had a hand in Venezuela's 2012 election by proclaiming it was fair and free (spoiler - it wasn't)

On the other hand, Jimmy was part of the 2005 bipartisan commission that said that vote by mail was a danger of fraud. He reversed himself on this in advance of the 2020 elections.

#15  I'll give him this: unlike the Clintons and the Obamas and the Bidens and their retinues, Jimmah never traded on his office.

Unlike those walking whores, Jimmah spent his post-presidency helping people instead of collecting a nine-figure fortune from corporations and billionaires paying him for past and future political services.

#14  He never met a murdering terrorist he didn't love and support.

#13  The Peter Principleâ„¢ in action: he is a smart and caring person that should have never been given executive power. I was starting to think better of him do to his Habitats For Humanity work and that opinion soured as he seemed to support every despotic dictator, every evil cause and, yes, his anti-Semitism that seemed to grow more overt as time passed.

Happy Birthday Mr. Carter.

You have been a very good example of Christianity in its truest since.

You have put forth much effort in providing for others with less. All while never seeking personal media attention, other what was needed to continue the Christian-Humanitarian efforts.

Best Wishes Sir.

#10  #9 Yes, Tip O'Neill was the true power. A example, solar panels were begun and O'Neill's son was a player in that new industry.

#9  Unlike Biden, his actions didn't appear to match his character.

Could it be that he wasn't actually in control of events, even back then.

#8   but a good Man.

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach has written better than I could on that subject, Mike. This, for instance, from 2016:

Jimmy Carter’s Animus for Israel
Few American leaders have had a more broken moral compass

which opens with President Carter’s fond memories of Fidel Castro and Kim Il Sung.

#4  Well at least he supported the early research that led to fracking. So did Jerry Ford, btw.

Different era... Jimmah looks normal and moderate compared with our current crew of insane leftists

#3  Remember when he replaced the Shah, an important US ally, with a radical Muslim revolution? Good job there Carter.
