At least he can die secure in the knowledge that, not only was he a better president than James Buchanan and almost as good as Millard Fillmore, but that two out of three Dem presidents since him have been worse and that one out of three has played the saxophone on national teevee and gotten a BJ whilst discussing national policy on the Hot Line™. |

His cabinet was schizo: he had a cookie-pushers like Cy Vance and Andrew Young alongside the most hawkish Cold Warrior of the era, Zbig Brzezinski, as NSC Adviser. Despite his obvious high intelligence - 'nukeyer' er nuclear engineering degree from USNA - when it came to practical policy and strategy, the guy had no coherent, intelligent understanding of the world |

| #16 Jimmy also had a hand in Venezuela's 2012 election by proclaiming it was fair and free (spoiler - it wasn't) On the other hand, Jimmy was part of the 2005 bipartisan commission that said that vote by mail was a danger of fraud. He reversed himself on this in advance of the 2020 elections. |

I was starting to think better of him do to his Habitats For Humanity work and that opinion soured as he seemed to support every despotic dictator, every evil cause and, yes, his anti-Semitism that seemed to grow more overt as time passed. |
