Mossad kidnapped an Iranian general to obtain info on Ron Arad – report

A tale of which nightmares are made. In certain circles, anyway.
[IsraelTimes] Hebrew media reports reverse course on operation, citing sources indicating it was a success after earlier reporting it as a failure.

A recent Mossad operation that aimed to discover information about the whereabouts of missing Israeli airman Ron Arad saw agents kidnap an Iranian general for interrogation, according to an Arabic-language report.

Mossad agents took the man from Syria to an unnamed African country, interrogated him there, and eventually released him, the London-based Rai al-Youm online newspaper reported on Monday.

The Justice Department issued a statement on Tuesday saying four Iranian intelligence agents currently in Iran have been indicted of a plot to kidnap Masih Alinejad, a Brooklyn resident. The agents hired private detectives to follow her movements and were planning to kidnap and send her to Venezuela possibly by a speedboat.
As the news about the indictments emerged, It was also reported that the State Department was waving US sanctions, allowing Iran to access billions of dollars in frozen funds in Japan and South Korea.

#5  @#3 - When I was posted in West Africa many years ago, I was surprised at the level of Israeli presence. I'm sure I was only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Not sure if Mauritania would be high the list of likely spots...
