#17  "The Bloodiest Spot In The Western Hemisphere!" It was the sacrificial stone from an Aztec temple, and based on records and data recorded by the conquistadors, it was estimated that a couple hundred thousand men, women, and children had been sacrificed there over a few centuries. And it wasn't the only one.

In a much shorter period, Planned Parenthood has exceeded that

#16  ^ one final true Indian story. My father fought in World War II and a fellow soldier was full blood Indian. He got drunk once and went on a destructive rampage and viciously fought anyone and everyone trying to get him under control. The only way they they got him under control was to wack him over the head with a rifle butt.

#15  I knew a full blood Indian female once. Her and her other Indian friends were constantly in conflict with each other. I finally got tired of it and stopped communicating with them. Another time I drove through Sioux Falls and saw a full blood Indian stumbling around drunk. As soon as the civilized white man landed in America, all the squaws decided it was time to "marry up" and out of the tribes. The only IndianI really liked was an Indian kid who played sand lot football with us as kids. It took four white kids to tackle that Indian kid He was tuff.

#13  Human sacrifice, cannibalism, torture for sport and hallucinogenic drugs - man, Indigenous People Day could be way bigger than Cinco de Mayo!

#12  In all fairness, outside of sailing ships and metalworking, most native Americans in North America were living a village existence comparable to that of most European peasants at the time of colonization. Favorably comparable, actually; as was noted by English explorers at the time.

#10  The French explorer Champlain, who many regard the French as the most understanding of the European explorers, and Champlain himself as a sympathetic native lover who grew up in a warring Europe whose enemies had some real pastime griefs, who explored what is considered the most civilized of regions, was mostly like holy shit these people really enjoy their murder, torture and misery of others!

#9  The Mayans and Aztecs were able to achieve daily kill rates during their sacrificial celebrations that approached and even exceeded that of the Nazi concentration camps. Typical that Democrats would want to celebrate this

#8  Very cool Lizzie. If Columbus had not discovered America and indigenous people had remained dominant in North America, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan would now rule the world and Jews, blacks, gays and native Americans would either be slaves or be dead. Any question genius?

#7  They spent most of their time slaughtering each other.

The deadly European viruses brought to the coast of what's now New England and the Maritime provinces were originally viewed as a blessing by Massasoit and other Indian leaders because they devastated rival Indian tribes.

#6  An annual reminder they got their asses kicked and have had to buy their blankets, tobacco and firewater from whites ever since.

#5  it's not about celebrating anything 'indigenous' it is about destroying what is already there.

embrace, extend, extinguish

embrace it as a day of celebration, extend it to 'be inclusive' of 'indigenous people' and ultimately extinguish the original reason for the day.

communists are nothing if not predictable.

#4  Cause the stone age people of the Americas were such a fountain of science and technology? How many of the aboriginals walked to their protests yesterday in traditional pre-Columbian clothes made in the same fashion as they were then. Walked because that's how they got around for thousands of years before the Spanish reintroduced horses to the New World, let alone pickups and automobiles.

The indoctrinators who pose as 'teachers' are ignorant of Europe's long series of invasions, wars, and migrations. The difference in 1492 was that the Europeans had achieved a level of technology that allowed them to continue the population shift westward.

#3  #1 I never understood why the left insists on 'honouring' indigenous people by celebrating the day that Columbus discovered the New World, which led to a lot of the problems Native Americans had and are still having. You would think that 'Columbus day' would be the last day they would pick to celebrate 'Indigenous People'.Posted by: CrazyFool 2021-10-12 01:23

...CF,
It's that these goons think that by picking what used to be Columbus Day, they are somehow 'sticking it' to him.

Myself, every time I see 'Indigenous People's Day', I remember the old Ripley's Believe It Or Not! books - I devoured them as a kid, especially the reprints from the late 30s and through the 40s, which had articles that went into exquisite and fascinating detail.

One of them had a part showing an amazingly carved slab of stone, with the title, "The Bloodiest Spot In The Western Hemisphere!" It was the sacrificial stone from an Aztec temple, and based on records and data recorded by the conquistadors, it was estimated that a couple hundred thousand men, women, and children had been sacrificed there over a few centuries. And it wasn't the only one.

Indigenous People's Day, indeed.
