[JustTheNews] Department will seek to monitor vital signs, “psychosocial information." The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is seeking proposals for a new system that will allow it to track the biometric data of its workers in order to monitor their physical and mental well-being. DHS said in a call for proposals this week that it is looking to “find innovative technological solutions that will improve the overall health and wellness of those consistently placed in high-stress and dangerous conditions” under DHS employment. #7 what's to stop him from mandating all US workers have this? There’s already a silicon chip shortage... Also, it’s a wearable — how to make all 350million of us wear such a thing all the time? Making 240,000 Homeland employees wear the thing at work is one thing, but even enforcing them wearing it evenings and weekends would be a stretch. |

#4 Aimed at their own workers, it’s a step up from the FitBits Toyota gave to trailing daughter #2 and Mr. Daughter2 a few years ago with financial rewards for walking X steps/week or month, the data from the thing being automatically shared in both directions. It worked wonderfully for about the first six months, until it occurred to some extra competitive employees that the thing would count arm waves as if they were real steps, making achieving payoff goals that much faster and easier. The Big Brother aspect of the thing didn’t trouble them at all in the beginning. Nor later, when they were functionally lying to her employer. The possibility of which no doubt has not occurred to the hip executives considering this thing at Homeland. |
