#20  The 1998 agreement between Russia and Ukraine that removed nuclear weapons from Ukraine in delivered them through United States for DMIL is the agreement that right now is being breached.

The treaty was meant and designed to protect Ukraine once they no longer had nuclear weapons as they were afraid Russia would invade if they gave up their nuclear weapons.

they gave up their nuclear weapons and russia invaded anyway.

#16  I have enough enemies. I don't need any more. You are a good guy, Merrick. We basically agree on everything that matters. I just left the idealism out with the trash some time back. I'm one of the guys in the Vinegar Tasters woodcut. I'm one of the smilers. The vinegar is supposed to be bitter. Something would be wrong if it wasn't.

I do want a better future for your kids. Merry Christmas!

Btw - Let's bury the hatchet on our other gig, k?

#13  We do a great job here of standing around with our pants around our ankles at our own border. We have no business telling others how to manage theirs.

#12  We did uphold the Monroe Doctrine, in '62 -- when Kennedy implicitly recognized a reciprocal Russian (then-Soviet) sphere of interest, by withdrawing the Jupiter missiles from our own ally in Russia's backyard.

All we had to do wrt Ukraine was live up to our promises made to Gorbachev and Yeltsin that we would not expand NATO. In contrast to Kennedy and his five successors, under Bush Pete and Clinton we decided to break our promises, throw away reciprocity, press our advantage and humiliate the Russians by expanding NATO everywhere possible.

Then Nuland and that fool Soetoro got it into their heads that Ukraine, the most corrupt country north of Nigeria, needed to be brought into both the EU and NATO!

So of course the Russians are loaded for bear, as it were. Any Russian leader would resist these serial attempts to humiliate his nation in his backyard. Has nothing to do with Putin.

#11  Tragic scenario potentially unfolding. Infinitely more tragic if we become involved.

#10  The lines have been drawn. Russian Chief of General Staff General Valery Gerasimov has stated Russia will intervene should Ukraine chose to settle the Donbass issue using military force.

All Ukraine has to do to avoid a conflict with Russia is not fire on Russian troops. And since they are not on the border within range of Ukrainian artillery, the issue will go no further.

It appears Russia learned some lessons from the 2008 War for South Ossetia is to not put troops within range.

#9  Rob, Putin gave 100% backing for twenty years to the communists destroying the country my Dad was retired to in the 90's while the local prototype for Antifa turned it into a tribute kingdom for China and these guys think he's the big he-man alpha christian orthodox guy.

It's ludicrous to uphold the Monroe Doctrube...

You mean the one y'all commie-lovers have been failing to uphold for the last two and a half decades, never mind Cuba, Nicaragua, China owning the Panama Canal...

I wonder if you and Hunter both cash your Russian checks at the same bank.

#8  The people running things need these messes. It's impossible to vote in people who don't want to feed the beast. You have to kill the beast.

If you can.

#7  Here's the right way to engage: Ask yourselves what our vital interest is in Ukraine. Try in good faith to answer that question honestly -- and you'll see that, in reality, we have none. It's ludicrous to uphold the Monroe Doctrube while denying Russia the right to its own sphere of interest in a territory bordering Russia, where Russian is spoken, where the US has no conceivable interest at all, and which has for over 1,000 years been central to the consciousness of Russians as a distinct people.

You're deluded if you think we ought to stir up a hornet's nest in a corrupt and worthless shithole like Ukraine. Even the potential argument that somehow we need a presence on the Black Sea falls flat: we already have allies all over the western and southern sides of the Black Sea! Why on earth do we need to encroach and expand NATO even further than we've already done?

This is more madness from an administration that has gone berserk.

Presided over by a shit-for-brains mendacious hair-sniffing corrupt clown.

#3  Plz provide evidence of the Russian buildup. Have the warmongering Bidenistas provided any satellite photos? Any verifiable video or photos (not the ones showing Russian armor near Smolensk far far away.) Forgive me for being skeptical about the intentions of the Biden-Kerry-Pelosi gangsters in the Ukraine...
