They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
police personnel were killed and 12 injured on Monday when bully boyz opened fire on their bus in Zewan area on the outskirts of Srinagar city.
The bus, carrying 25 police personnel, came under fire from bully boyz in Zewan in Pantha Chowk area this evening. At least 14 personnel of the ninth battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police sustained injuries in the attack. The injured were evacuated to various hospitals where two of them died.
Among the injured personnel, ASI Ghulam Hassan and SgCT Safique Ali gave up the ghost and attained martyrdom,whereas condition of other injured personnel is stated to be stable, the police said."Police has started the paperwork but haven't done much else in this regard under relevant sections of law and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this terror crime. Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on," they added.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said, "PM Narendra Modi has sought details on the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also expressed condolences to the families of those security personnel who have been martyred in the attack."
The attack comes days after two cops were killed in a terror attack on a police party in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, evoking widespread condemnation from various political parties.
The two coppers were maimed in the firing and were admitted to a hospital, where they died.
The attack also comes on the close heels of the recent spate of assassinations on migrant workers and members of the minority communities in Kashmir.
No terrorist outfit has so far grabbed credit for the firing on the police bus which came on the 20th anniversary of the attack on the Parliament building in the national capital by the Jaish-e-Mohammad
