[AlAhram] Head of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II inaugurated on Saturday the Church of the Virgin and Saint Mary of Egypt in the new Ahalina 2 Residential Project in Cairo’s El-Salam City, the church announced.The pope held prayers at the church, inaugurating its main alter after the name of the Virgin and Saint Mary of Egypt as well as two other alters named after Martyr Damiana and Martyr Mar George.

He also thanked in his sermon President Abel-Fattah El-Sisi, the Engineering Authority of the Egyptian Armed Forces, the police, as well as all those who contributed to the construction of the church.
The new church was built in the Ahalina 2 Residential Project in accordance with El-Sisi’s directive to construct a church in every urban residential community the state develops to provide an equal opportunity for worship for all.
The newly inaugurated church is going to serve Christian families in the areas of Ahalina 1, Ahalina 2, Ahalina 3, and Qubaa in al-Salam City.
