"We have officially applied the danger reduction mechanism, in accordance with Section III of the Vienna Document, and have requested the Russian Federation to provide detailed clarifications on military activities in areas adjacent to the territory of Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied Crimea," the minister wrote.
He explained what the provisions of the Vienna Document meant.
"According to the provisions of the Vienna Document, the Russian Federation must provide the exact areas for conducting military activities, report the date of its completion, as well as the name, subordination, number of military formations, as well as the types of weapons and military equipment involved in it," writes the head of the Foreign Ministry.
In the event that the Russian Federation refuses to give an answer or provides insufficient information, Ukraine initiates an extraordinary meeting of the OSCE participating states.
"Russia has 48 hours to respond. In case of its absence or provision of insufficient or inappropriate information, Ukraine will apply to the Russian Federation and other states parties to the Vienna Document to convene an emergency meeting, at which the Russian Federation will have to provide an explanation," Kuleba added.
The Foreign Minister added that Ukraine will continue to use all diplomatic opportunities to ensure the country's security.
