Jordan confiscates large amounts of drugs and weapons

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Jordan Armed forces confiscated on Friday in presence of Major General Yousef Ahmed al-Hunaiti, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces, on the eastern military zone on Jordan-Syria borders, large amount of drugs and weapons coming from Syria.

The confiscated amounts are 9343000 pill of Captagon, 38900 tramadol pills, 7096 handful of cannabis (Hashish), 199 BKCs, 63 Kalashnikov weapons and two vehicles.

"The armed forces will use all its available capabilities, to prevent and confront infiltration and smuggling operations in order to preserve the country’s security and stability and the safety of its citizens alike," Gen.al-Hunaiti told official Jordanian news agency Petra.

"The armed forces continue to stand firmly against anyone trying to undermine the security of the Kingdom and its people through applying new rules of battling and deal with full force with any attempt of infiltration or smuggling," he added.

"If you do not deal with the issue, we will protect our borders," according Jordan-based al-Mamlaka broadcaster.

In September, al-Hunaiti received Syrian Minister of Defense Ali Ayoub in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The two parties discussed coordination to ensure the security of the common borders between the two countries, the situation in southern Syria, combating terrorism, and joint efforts to confront cross-border smuggling.

Jordan forces thwarted a smuggling operation of over 15 million of Captagon pills in 2021 and 5.5 million in the first two weeks of 2022.
