| Syria Two Syrian soldiers killed , nine wounded, says Russian Reconciliation Center |

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two Syrian soldiers were killed, nine other and a civilian were wounded in shelling conducted by militants of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) against the government posts in several Syrian governorates, Oleg Zhuravlev, deputy chief of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, announced yesterday. Militants of the Syrian opposition factions targeted posts of the Syrian government in the countryside of Aleppo governorate, north Syria, killing one Syrian soldier and wounding four others and a civilian as well, Zhuravlev added. Meanwhile, one government soldier was killed and five were wounded in mortar bombardment targeting the government sites in the countryside of Idlib governorate, northwest Syria, according to him. Nine assaults launched by the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS-formerly al-Nusra Front) were reported five of which were in Idlib and four in Aleppo, Zhuravlev explained. On Tuesday, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu inspected the Russian airbase at Syria’s Khmeimim. Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force. |
