| Officer of government forces killed in Daraa |

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – An officer of the government forces plus a civilian were killed on Sunday evening in two separate attacks in the countryside of Daraa. “Major Maher Wassouf, who was affiliated with the Political Security Branch of the government forces, was killed in an attack by unknown assailants on his car near the town of Sayda in the eastern countryside of Daraa,” a local source told North Press. “Al-Wasouf was from the city of Jableh in the countryside of Lattakia, and he was in charge of the Nassib border crossing with Jordan.” “Al-Wasouf was infamous for his blackmail of travelers and truck drivers with the aim of paying royalties,” the sources said. In a separate incident, a person was deadly shot by unidentified gunmen in the town of al-Naima in the eastern countryside of Daraa. Daraa, which is completely run by the government forces, has recently witnessed cases of killing of more than 10 people, most of whom were former members of the opposition.
