HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Internal Security Forces of North and east Syria (Asayish) in Hawl Camp east of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, was wounded yesterday during a shooting incident by an armed group that was hiding in a tent in the first sector of the camp. Sounds of intermittent clashes heard in the first sector, which holds Iraqi refugees, sources inside the camp told North Press. “During a campaign of arresting an Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells in a tent in the first sector, the Asayish patrol was shot at by a group of ISIS cells,” a security source told North Press. The source did not provide further details about the incident. Hawl camp witnessed intensive security measures at the entrances, as employees of NGOs were not allowed to enter until 9 o’clock this morning. Since the last attack by ISIS sleeper cells on al-Sina’a prison in January, Hawl Camp has witnessed security incidents despite the strict security measures that accompanied the attack. On February 9, a number of ISIS wives set six tents on fire in the camp in the foreigners sector in order to grasp the attention of the security forces. The Hawl Camp is a house for about 15,300 families in total of 56, 000 individuals including 2,423 families of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) detained or killed militants, who hail from over than 60 countries. |
