Explosion kills three, wounded 20 worshipers in Paktia province
2022-03-06
[Khaama] Local officials of the southeastern Paktia province said that a bomb explosion at the gate of a mosque in Dand Patna district killed three worshipers and wounded more than 20 more.

The blast took place in the Kharoti residence of the district after hundreds of people were coming out of the mosque finishing the Friday prayer.

Local residents say that those wounded have been dispatched to local hospitals in Samkani district and to the provincial hospital in the capital Gardiz while those in serious condition were sent to Kabul.

The motive behind the blast is not disclosed yet nor has someone claimed responsibility for the incident.

Head of information and culture directorate Khaliqyar Ahmadzai told reporters that they have started investigations about the explosion.

It is the first bomb blast in the southeastern Paktia province following the Taliban takeover in August last year.
Mosques are Sunni. Majlises (if I spelt that right) are Shiite, because they aren’t allowed to use the same Arabic word for their place of worship — it would somehow pollute it in majority Sunni eyes were a Shiite to do so.
