Putin snickers: Guess who owns a big chunk of Venezuela's oil?
2022-03-09
[AmericanThinker] Under pressure from a veto-proof majority in Congress, Joe Biden loudly announced a cutoff of energy purchases from Russia, amounting to about 7% of U.S. energy imports.

"Russian oil will no longer be accepted at U.S. ports — and the American people will deal another powerful blow against Putin’s war machine," he tweeted.

Russia had been sending about 600,000 barrels of oil a day to the states in a big export surge, following Biden's bans on federal leases for drilling, halt to the Keystone XL pipeline, and other measures intended to bankrupt Big Oil in the name of "going green." The rise actually started late in the Trump administration's term, but it spiked sharply higher when Biden started clamping down on American production. As of the state of the Ukraine war, Putin has been taking home about $56 million a day from sales of crude to the states.

Well, this ought to fix them, right?

Not so fast. Biden went on to say that the loss of supply would raise energy prices for ordinary consumers and there was nothing he could do, because Putin did it.
I understand Putin was enabled by one of his cronies, one Joseph Robinette Biden.
His "solution" has not been to restore America's energy independence seen during the Trump years, but to buy from and become dependent on other suppliers. He tried hard to get the Saudis and Emiratis to pump more oil, but the sheikhs refused to take his phone calls. That leaves him with much gamier suppliers -- like Venezuela, which is currently under a huge sanctions regime dating from the days of President Trump, following the Nicolas Maduro regime's bid to oust him from a constitutionally appointed role as acting president and then the rigged and stolen election of 2020 as well as Venezuela's ongoing history of drug trafficking.

Who owns Venezuela's oil? The information is pretty hazy give that these characters don't release much information anymore, and the news shifts often, but the preponderance of evidence suggests that Russia owns a big chunk of it.
Along with the rest of the country. Venezuela has been a Soviet Captured Province for over twenty years now. Am I really going to have to explain how the Roman client patron system works and how this all started?

#9  For ye of short of memory Hunter Biden was a no show member of the board of a Ukrainian energy company when his dad was VP.

More specifically, he was on the board of Burisma. Burisma was founded by Mikhail Zelezny, who was also the environmental minister and the energy minister of Ukraine for Yanukovitch, who is currently hiding in Russia. (Zelezny is currently at the next level of How Not To Be Seen, because noone knows what country he's hiding in). Anyway, Zelezny basically transferred all drilling permits in Ukraine to his company and kept anyone else from drilling for natural gas an oil. Burisma makes most of its money in places like Khazakstan, doing services for the main productive oil companies, which are owned by Russia.

Burisma could basically make money working for Russia while sitting on its Ukranian permits and not do anything while making sure noone else could do anything with them that might make Ukraine slightly less dependent on Russia.

After the Ukraine got rid of Yanukovitch, they wanted to investigate the situation, but ran afoul of this guy:

#8  Figure that's what a lot of the hooplah around Trump's Talk with Ukraine was about; not spilling the beans.

#7  How long before someone leaks the real story of Joe and Hunter's financial deals with Ukraine? For ye of short of memory Hunter Biden was a no show member of the board of a Ukrainian energy company when his dad was VP.

#6  Snowy, it was a pleasant thought, a hopeful thought and maybe a delusional thought. I'll go to my room now.

#4  Dale, a lot of that money you attribute to Ukraine actually came from Putin. Biden is taking a dive.

I hate no matter how much I try to explain this everyone resets the next day and it's Day Zero again.

#2  What I enjoy so much about this is Putin did what Trump attempted to do and drain the swamp. Ukraine was a cash cow for so long. 10 million to DNC,Biden's millions,Kerry with his hand out, Soros, Clinton's are in there somewhere I am certain. So now the fun begins. Choke hold in place. Who will squeal first.
