«We'll eat them slowly, like salami.» Another group of Russian troops heading to Kyiv destroyed between Kharkiv and Sumy
2022-03-10
[Lviv Now] From Mar 7 but post worthy for the title alone.
Between Kharkiv and Sumy, a huge group of Russian troops was formed and started moving in the direction of Kyiv. It no more exists, the adviser to the head of the President’s Office Oleksii Arestovych said on the air of the marathon of the Ukrainian channel, — Liga.net reports.

«A huge operative group was disbanded between Kharkiv and Sumy. It has gone now. It was partly killed, partly thrown near Kharkiv and stopped there, partly retreated and licked their wounds,» — he said.

Arestovych added that Russia’s operational capabilities are far from massive bombings and final assaults, if not assaults at all. According to him, in the last 24 hours, Russian troops have hardly advanced: in the Kharkiv region, they were driven out of Chuhuiv, beaten near Mykolayiv, and covered with artillery near Kyiv.

«It simply came to our notice then. The Russian army is not strong, it is just long. We will eat them slowly, like salami,» — Arestovych summed up.

It will be recalled that desertion among the occupiers is becoming widespread — the invaders are fleeing the army even on the way to Ukraine. The Russian captured technician made several «walks» from the Crimea to the Kherson and Nikolaev areas and saw well the scale of desertion.

#3  50-some years ago most of our gear and supply moved on the limited road network.

That was the problem in the beginning of our war in Korea. Road bound. When Ridgeway took over and rebuilt the battered Army in the face of enemy, its one of the things he instituted, getting them out of the vehicles and up on the high ground.

#2  50-some years ago most of our gear and supply moved on the limited road network. But seemed like most of our fighting was done by small foot units trying to protect the flanks. A 40-mile convoy just sitting there getting blasted? Nobody working the flanks, even by air? Doesn't make sense.

#1  Got to wonder if its not just vehicles. Wonder how 'rugged' a lot of the troops are? If you are humping 100+ lbs a load a day you become a mule and stress injuries start to mount if you are not preconditioned for it. That takes training, training, training. Heavy emphasis of mounted operations leaves troops less than prime for humping their loads (to include food, ammo, water) which may factor in to a road bound mentality.
