Russia asks China for military equipment, U.S. officials say; China sez ‘Huh?’ |
2022-03-14 |
[WaPo] may be real or a preemptive warning to China. Russia has turned to China for military equipment and aid in the weeks since it began its invasion of Ukraine, U.S. officials familiar with the matter told The Washington Post. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, did not describe what kind of weaponry had been requested, or whether they know how China responded. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN that the administration was "communicating directly, privately to Beijing, that there will absolutely be consequences" for any Chinese efforts to assist Russia in evading sanctions. Chinese official says he has no knowledge of reported Russian aid request [IsraelTimes] A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in the US says he has no information about a reported request from Russia for Beijing to provide military aid. "I’ve never heard of that," Liu Pengyu says in a statement to CNN ...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for... "The high priority now is to prevent the tense situation from escalating or even getting out of control. ... China calls for exercising utmost restraint and preventing a massive humanitarian crisis," he’s quoted adding. |

#3 Paper Tigers. India, China, Pakistan, the Koreas the whole lot. I wonder how anybody puts any trust in them. If Putin was actually depending on them to keep Russia going, he deserves to lose. |
