Putin fires hypersonic missile at Ukraine: Russia steps up war of attrition with another strike on west of country with 9,000mph missile as Kyiv claims invaders have suffered 15,000 casualties
2022-03-19
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Using up the expensive inventory.
  • Moscow claims the 'Kinzhal'- or Dagger - missile is 'unstoppable' by current Western defensive weapons

  • The weapon, which has a range of 1,250 miles, is nuclear capable. The Friday attack was a conventional strike

  • Vladimir Putin has termed the missile 'an ideal weapon' that flies at 10 times the speed of sound

  • The missile was one of an array of new weapons Putin unveiled in his state-of-the-nation address in 2018

  • Russia first used the weapon during its military campaign in Syria in 2016 to support the Assad regime

#12  Russians are crushing Ukraine now, everywhere. South, north and west. Almost over. Looks like we got punked again by our garbage media with their lies about the heroic Ukrainian resistance

#11  Saw one article say near Poland, this says near Romania. Both said something about a supply depot.

That is a long shot. Long enough to be detected and the site prepared for defense or/and evacuated even with a Mach 3 cruise missile.

This would cut reaction time; especially if deployed by an aircraft which just looked like it was doing normal stuff just a second ago. Cut your shot distance in half while tripling speed.

That is, of course, if any of this is to be believed, we know DM isn't above peddling agenda.

#10  But it could be a sign they are running low on long-range ammo, he forgot to add.

#9  Expensive, true. But it is also new. Little wars like this are an opportunity to test out new stuff before The Big One.

#8  "Do we have hypersonic missiles?"
That's rocket science, hard to do with new equitable math (2+2= whatever you want it to.)

#7  Yes. Very expensive ordnance to use in a contest that was / is supposedly so one-sided.

Trying to catch up but failing. Miserably

US Hypersonic Missile Failures Risk US Chase of Russia, China
U.S. efforts to catch up with China and Russia in developing hypersonic weapons may be set back after Lockheed Martin Corp.’s air-launched missile suffered three consecutive test failures that left it on a tight schedule.

Now they are used to support the Putin regime.

With the way things are being reported, I'm sure we'll hear from Kyiv of how the useless pilot embarrassingly fired it into a pool of quicksand. While a Ukranian para simply shot the plane down with a 70s handgun.
