Iran-Backed Houthi Terrorists Hit Saudi Oil Facilities, Threaten Global Fuel Supply
2022-03-28
[LI] As sanctions on Russia cause a global energy supply crunch, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group carried out multiple drone-and-missile strikes on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities.

On Friday, the pro-Iranian Houthi militia claimed responsibility for at least 16 aerial attacks across Saudi Arabia, targeting an oil depot owned by the Aramco oil company and other sites in country’s capital Riyadh.

Armed with Iran-made drones, Yemen-based Houthis have intensified their attacks against neighboring Saudi Arabia. Last weekend, the pro-Iranian terrorist group staged similar attacks against Saudi oil infrastructure and water treatment plants.

The attack on Saudi oil infrastructure could severely cripple the world economy. In the wake of the Russian sanctions, the United States and Western economies are counting on Saudi Arabia — the world’s biggest oil producer besides Russia — to step up its oil production to stabilize soaring fuel prices. "Oil prices have soared since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine sparked supply fears, prompting Western powers to implore OPEC countries to ramp up production," the French news agency AFP noted on Friday.

#6   There's always enough pumping capacity to circumvent one offline station.

Good to know, OspasDhahran. I’m going to sound so intelligent at the next dinner party! ;-)

#4  If its the 56inch EastWest pumping station its serious, as its a crude export line to Yanbu terminal from Abqaiq, but that's far north of Riyadh. More likely it's simply a refined products depot. In which case its nothing to do with crude and will not effect exports. The IPSA line could be involved as that's in the same corridor as the 56 and 48inch lines. There are 11 pumping station along that E/W pipeline. There's always enough pumping capacity to circumvent one offline station.

#2  And Biden still trying to make nice with the Mad Mullahs in Qom. No wonder the Soddies won't take his phone calls. But, hey, if it costs the Democrats the next two elections it's all good.
