Imran Khan accuses US diplomat of trying to overthrow government
2022-04-05
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The prime minister of Pakistain accused a United States diplomat on Sunday of playing a role in a conspiracy to overthrow his government.

Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
claimed Donald Lu,
Who?
assistant secretary of state for south and central Asian affairs,
...that doesn’t really clarify, sorry. He’s not interesting enough to be found in the Rantburg archives...
had told him through Pakistain's ambassador to the U.S., Asad Majeed, that there would be implications if Khan survived the no-confidence vote, according to the Hindustan Times.

Khan added that he had reports that objectors to his Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
party had frequented the U.S. Embassy.

"What were the reasons that the people, who have left us, met people of the embassy frequently in the last few days?" he said in a televised statement.

The no-confidence vote was blocked in Parliament on Sunday, with Khan calling on Pakistain to prepare for an early election. He also requested Pak President Arif Alvi to dissolve Parliament, CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
reported.

The State Department did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment on Lu.

#41  Yes, yes, the CIA is your big boogieman.

Nobody cares. Pakistain is a backwater, like Russia the only reason anyone gives it any regard is it once was able to detonate a nuclear device.

#40  I want to remember the Rantburg readers if they wanted to put the dots together, that March 7th of this year , foreign office of Pakistan received diplomatic correspondence from their ambassador in Washington DC. It detailed an official meeting he had with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu. Mr Donald Lu told Pakistani ambassador that their current tilt toward china and Russia is not acceptable by Biden administration. And things will get more difficult if Pakistan does not correct its path.
All Pakistan had to do was to make sure upcoming no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan does not fail.
That motion was filed next day March 8th. Imran Khan government kept quiet about this letter but asked intelligence agencies under his control to start documenting movements of 3 foreign ambassadors , 24/7.
I think its normal practice for any foreign ambassadors to meet different political leaders but it was highly unusual for them to meet members of national assembly from Imran Khan’s own party , 22 of these defected against Imran Khan.
This matter is fluid and complex , there is a lot at stake here. Barring any under handed surprises , Imran Khan will sweep next elections, local media estimating 80% support for him right now .
Basically what we are seeing is another cia color revolution or management change failure developing under our eyes.

#39  #37 Not a problem for you when you're on the dole.

I hadn't considered that. Good for you!

Do you live in California? How much do you take each month? Someone said they're rationing food in Spain... are they talking about food rationing in the USA yet?

#38  A viceroy rules over a territory and decides what kind of government it has. It's a better word that describes the job better.

Put up or shut up.

Seriously? She even complimented the tradecraft of whomever intercepted her call. Here's the complete transcript.

Viceroy Nuland: "Good. I don't think Klitsch should go into the government. I don't think it's necessary, I don't think it's a good idea."

See how she's deciding what kind of government Ukraine will have?

Viceroy Nuland: "I just think Klitsch going in... he's going to be at that level working for Yatseniuk, it's just not going to work."

Good thing Ukraine is a democracy where the people decide their own fate without foreigners butting in and making decisions about their government without their knowledge or consent!

#34  #31. I don't see how St. Pete, FL, Odessa Tx or Rantburg belong on your shirt. You give yourself away as a troll.

We embrace a very rigidly structured form of chaos here. St. Pete is a great vacation destination. I know nothing of Odessa, TX other than it's not Austin and that works for me.

#33  Poorly worded. Elimination of USAID and elimination of free use of foreign slave labor by US corporations.
Posted by: M. Murcek   2022-04-05 15:34

#32  My personal fantasy of foreign hatred would not be complete without the elimination of USAID and freely allowing US companies to profit from slave labor in foreign lands. Then we would be hated even more from certain quarters in CONUS.

But, it would be a start.

#26  for the sake of argument, the USA worked out Prompt Global Strike and controlled its borders. We would be hated even more than we are now. For staying home and only hitting people who tried to hit us.

THAT, I agree with!! If the USA and the other major powers (and I include France too) were to "stay home and only hitt people who tried to hit us", the West would be much richer and more free. Safer as well.

Which is why I'm all for embracing the gate. Nazi, shmazi. Wear the name your enemy gives you proudly. Straddle an ICBM and shout 'I am the great satan who shall ass rape Allan with this!'

You guys think Putin gives a fcuk about what the press is saying? Or does Kim sit and worry about who doesn't love him in the west? But it's only good policy if you start from home. Russia, China both started from home. You haven't solved the domestic, don't try and control the world, simple.

Nailed it on the head. Putin and Zelensky (with a huge assist from Obama's, then Biden's people) have engineered a cosmic clusterf*** and we're the ones who will have to clean up their mess. ("We" means everyone around the world who's not part of the Davos set or the military-industrial complex)

#15   Should I post the intercepted phone call by the US viceroy of Ukraine where she discusses which government she favors in power and then says "Fuck the EU"?

That’s olds, not news. We discussed it here when the reports first came out. Also: ambassador, not viceroy. It says hysteria because Pakistanis are particularly prone to conspiracy theories. It’s a societal talent.

#10  It always comes down to good against evil. At the end of the day, I need to be good more than I need to be American. I would like for the two to heavily overlap, but it's actually becoming less and less so these days. In the end, I'll choose good.

#9  Not all Americans, SC. Most of them are like you and me. All they want is service for their tax dollar. And most of that service is domestic. The few who were sold that schtick about 'protecting our freedoms' by fighting in Asia were also made to pay dearly by the deepState administrations when they asked for some of that freedom on Capitol Hill.

So we are all in this together. The American Right and India are not so opposed to each other's interests. We are not for blind and blatant Chinese expansionism for one. We are both victims and enemies of islamo-marxist and Globalist conspirators that seek to hijack our democracies.

Conservative Americans aren't naive. They are deeply patriotic and have yet to come to terms with the fact that this is not the America they have grown up serving. Imagine India taken over by the Congress, the SPs and Kejriwals. Having to witness the piecemeal dismantling of every edifice your brothers have died protecting. By scoundrels. This shit about Ukraine and Vlad... it's another hook into the hubris with which both RINO and libDem establishments have led the conservatives.

I read the arguments here. 'You are just wrong!' 'America is done!' 'No, Russia is!' 'Nazis! There's no such thing!' 'oooh the dead bodies!'

And I think of the engineers of chaos. And how they're consistently winning while we all predictably quibble.

#8  If India works to undermine the west's ability to sanction us for ridding the world of pests, that too you cannot begrudge us. Trump gave only India the waiver on Iran and understood he couldn't trust the 'allies' his advisors pointed to. He trusted us instead.

Well said. Americans consistently fail to understand how much damage is done by their blunt sanctions weapon. Trump was a breath of fresh air. Biden brought back all the foul stench and patronizing stupidity of liberal western imperialism. "Shaky." Tsk tsk.

Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of thinking apart from the government, nor can I divorce myself from America. In whatever form, we all battle an existential threat from Islamists, commies, homegrowns, whatever. They all derive their strength from international conventions of 'inalienable rights' and 'due process' and such. So, a clash between East and West will exist until the west accepts the fallibility of these notions, or at least learns to apply them selectively. Everyone from the UN to the mandarins in DC would shit a brick if we nuked 'slamabad tonight, wouldn't they. The same people mumbling 'oh the humanity!' over dead bodies in Ukraine would tear up and whine to kingdom come over dead children and women littering the Khyber pakhtunkhwa. You will appreciate we are indignant at not being able to 'solve' Pakistain.

If India blames Washington for empowering the 'Stain and endangering everyone including Americans, it is a justifiable criticism. Of not only callousness but suicidal stupidity. If the moslems in Pakistain do it they're just being moslem ingrates.

Obama, Biden, the next one... as far we are concerned, all are to be feared. Only DJT was worth the trust and respect because he couldn't be taken for a ride by moslems. He understood who the enemies were and how to get ahead together without obstructing non-hostile societies. India suffered a greater setback in the dem putsch than any other Asian country in fact. If India works to undermine the west's ability to sanction us for ridding the world of pests, that too you cannot begrudge us. Trump gave only India the waiver on Iran and understood he couldn't trust the 'allies' his advisors pointed to. He trusted us instead.

To blame is to live in the past. To be wary of something you know has the Murphy's Touch is not paranoia or hatred but just plain prudence. And the US government has been pathetically underperforming on meeting the ideals the real America stands for.

#4  No defense of the CIA from me. I would add, the government of India represents you about the same as my government represents me. Blaming the US is just too easy, especially in Pak, blame the locals for their deeds (and falling for foreign intervention).
Posted by: The Walking Unvaxed   2022-04-05 06:55

#3  No, not always, unvaxxed. And I don't blame the US. For me, you are the US. Your rulers have not been representative of you for a longer time than you'd like to imagine. If you'd still like to defend their actions out of a sense of loyalty or hubris, I understand that too. It just is what it is.

Wholeheartedly agree about our IB and ...uhh, other chaps.
Posted by: Dron66046   2022-04-05 06:42

#2  I think you much imagine the ability of the CIA. Corruption and greed is Pak's biggest problem. If India's IB was worth a crap they'd have the Paks killing each other at a higher rate.
Always blame the US, eh Dron66046?
Posted by: The Walking Unvaxed   2022-04-05 06:16

#1  It's not hysteria. The 'Stain is the only 'ace' the US deepState has in this region. The CIA channels into Islamabad run deep and smell of curry and piss. They're dogs ove there. Dangle enough carrots before them [hell, some can be bought for a blówjob] and they'll sell out their affiliations, topple their governments gladly. And the military junta is pro-dollar more than pro-yuan, always. Give it a chance, and they'll even jail their PMs.

For Imran worshiping before Putin, to counter the possibility of increasing India-China economic interdependence under threats of sanctions, to punish the subcontinent basically... what better way than to do incentivize the junta to take over. That would plunge the region likely into war.

I'm all for war, but Imran was good for slow negation of the 'Stain influence in Asia. The corruption was phenomenal, the crime and chaos and utter sasquatchery was beautiful. He set back whatever Nawaz and Mush tried to build by a decade, and leeched both dollar and yuan out in truckloads.

This is not hysteria. The US wishes for a stable, productive, supportive Islamic Republic of Paxstan strong enough to push Washington's will in the region. We won't let that happen inshallah or outshallah. Because Washington is insane, we are not.
