UN suspends Russia from human rights body as Ukraine continues to deal with toll of war
2022-04-08
[TWITTER] On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly voted to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council with 93 votes for suspension, 24 against and 58 countries abstaining. According to the Los Angeles Times, the "apparent execution-style killings of civilians" in Bucha, a suburb of Ukraine's capital Kyiv, pushed momentum around the bid to eject Russia. Ukrainian officials have said that hundreds of bodies of civilians have been found in towns around Kyiv, per The Associated Press.
