#5  Not to mention transgenders, who require lifetime hormone treatments.
I recently talked to a fellow who turned out to be an army recruiter and asked him about transgenders who tried to join. He said that under current regulations, the only prescription medication you can be on is birth control pills. So unless that is rescinded, someone who is transgender can't join. Of course, they could join and then transition, I suppose.

#4   HIV positive are non-deployable.

...and expensive to treat, using up funds that would otherwise be spent on bullets and MREs.

#3  HIV positive are non-deployable. That means someone else has to fill the manpower demand overseas.

Of course, if you bring most of the troops home from overseas, that wouldn't be a big problem.
