| Environmental group calls for deflating tires of SUVs to combat climate change | |

| [FOXBUSINESS] A radical environmental group raised a few eyebrows on Twitter after encouraging people to let the tires out of SUVs in an apparent bid to combat climate change. The group, Adbusters,
"Wedge gravel in the tire valves, leaflet the SUV to let them know the tires are flat and why it was done, and walk away. It’s that simple," the group tweeted. "If we organize, we can hit enough SUVs in particular neighborhoods to spark reporting and spread the metameme." The group said climate change was the "biggest crisis we’ve faced as a species, and we are failing the test at every step," adding: "it’s time for us to carefully escalate our methods in a non- They argued that targeting SUVs — which they said were playing a big role in carbon emissions — was a good way to "hurt the automotive industry where it hurts." | |

| #14 My wife called the cops once for suspecting someone was in the back yard. We lived in Harris County so after 45 minutes a single deputy shows up. Nobody there when he checked so he asked the wife, "Do you have protection?" She said, "Yes we have an alarm." He shook his head and said "A firearm." She nodded and said, "Yes, we have plenty." He smiled and said, "Well, just call us for cleanup." That is a direct quotation. Harris County is the democrat bastion in Houston but even the cops realize reality here in Texas. |

(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or Who didn't read what now? And we give them no publicity, some fool gets shot in Texas because they did something illegal at night doesn't make the national news. It barely makes the local news sometimes. |

| #8 And #2, I am COMPLETELY SERIOUS about this. People can and DO get shot for crap like that in this state. It almost never goes to trial either. Daytime is one thing, after dark in Texas, a lot of crime suddenly has a very real death penalty if you get caught in the act. Admittedly, there are many people like me that would call the cops and have them facedown on the pavement while we wait for the law. I'm not going to shoot someone for something like that. Break in my house though and it's a different ball game. That brings in a potential threat to my family. Father shoots robber who pointed gun at family in Texas restaurant. |

| #7 Good morning Skid! I get to go home and go to sleep in 15 minutes....well, after driving for an hour. TWO more nights and I have two weeks off and next hitch is daytime:) Bought the boy a simple recurve so he can start learning archery. He'll get a kick out of that. |

But believe me when I say that there are many of my neighbors who will happily light someone up for messing with their stuff, on their property after dark. Funnily enough, quite a few of them were not born in the US, but now that they are citizens and living in Texas, they have gone FULL Texan. SUBCHAPTER D. PROTECTION OF PROPERTY Sec. 9.41. PROTECTION OF ONE'S OWN PROPERTY. (a) A person in lawful possession of land or tangible, movable property is justified in using force against another when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to prevent or terminate the other's trespass on the land or unlawful interference with the property. (b) A person unlawfully dispossessed of land or tangible, movable property by another is justified in using force against the other when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to reenter the land or recover the property if the actor uses the force immediately or in fresh pursuit after the dispossession and: (1) the actor reasonably believes the other had no claim of right when he dispossessed the actor; or (2) the other accomplished the dispossession by using force, threat, or fraud against the actor. Acts 1973, 63rd Leg., p. 883, ch. 399, Sec. 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1974. Amended by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 900, Sec. 1.01, eff. Sept. 1, 1994. Sec. 9.42. DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property: (1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41; and (2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary: (A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or (B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property; and (3) he reasonably believes that: (A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means; or (B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury. |

Call the freaking cops and turn over the footage from your surveillance cameras. Of course nobody bothers to call out the real villains of the story: those who publicize it. The whole point of this is to get visibility and inspire copycats. Which not only Fox has done, but whoever posted this here. Good job, everyone is doing Adbusters' work for it! |
