The Nigerian Government, through the office of the National Security Adviser, has banned the free circulation of urea fertiliser in the Northeastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, due to its usefulness in the making of bombs by terrorists.
Adamawa/Taraba command's Area Comptroller of Customs, Ishiaka Ganiyu, disclosed this to journalists in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on Wednesday, saying "the movement of urea fertiliser in Adamawa is a threat to national security and also food security".
"Urea fertiliser is used by murderous Moslems to make explosives; that is why Adamawa State is one of the states in which the federal government prohibited its circulation," he added.
Other items seized according to Ganiyu include 9,825 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also called petrol; 5,340 litres of foreign engine oil; 838 pieces of android phones and 5,050 capsules of tramadol.
