An unconfirmed number of farmers has been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State. It was learnt that the attack took place on Thursday night in Waya, Jato-Aka, Turan. As many as ten corpses of victims of the attack have been recovered so far while many more are still missing, a member of the community told The Nation. Their corpses were said to have been deposited at the Jato-Aka mortuary. The resident, Lawrence Akerigba, said many people were still missing. Confirming the incident, the chairperson of Kwande Local Government Area, Mrs. Tartor Chianson, said eight bodies had been recovered which have been deposited at the mortuary. She noted that it was difficult to determine the exact number of casualties as the area was under siege. She added that men of Operation Whilestroke and Civil Defence were assisting in securing the community. #9 but when it occurs in Zimbabwe/South Africa nary a peep? We aren’t keeping as close an eye on the southern end of Africa, DooDah Man. We see occasional reports of Al Qaeda down there, but there are so many other non-Muslim kinds of viciousness that they seem to keep one another busy in mostly other directions. We watched Zimbabwe here in the early years, but that situation is more in the nature of hamsters doing their vicious best to disembowel one another, unconnected to the outside world. Are you seeing indications that the Muslim jihad is heating up down there? |

#4 I suggest you read the The Fate of Africa: A History of the Continent Since Independence by Martin Meredith. A summary of this event. I am a herdsman who feeds my family as I move my animals from waterhole to waterhole. Since the Europeans have left, the biggest tribe gives all the land to its people. They put up fences and surround the water supply…..just one story of many. Oligarchs rule! |

#3 Oh, the farmer and the cowman should be friends, Oh, the farmer and the cowman should be friends. One man likes to push a plough, The other likes to chase a cow, But that's no reason why they cain't be friends. |
